Cape Cod Veterans Fear Fallout from Fraud SuitAllegations of theft against officials of the Cape Cod chapter of Disabled American Veterans Inc. have stirred the ire and concern of Cape veterans and their organizations. "I was appalled," said Terry Clen, Dennis harbormaster, U.S. Marine Corps veteran and member of several local veterans groups. "I hope to hell it's not true." The state DAV filed a lawsuit in Suffolk Superior Court last month alleging that five officials of the local chapter stole from the group over a period of several years. In the civil complaint, the state charity accuses former Commander and President Richard A. Trott Sr. of East Sandwich, his brother and former Director Thomas M. Trott of South Yarmouth, former Treasurer and Clerk Luiz Gonzaga of Hyannis, former Director Wolfgang Fattler of West Barnstable and former Director Michael Proc of Barnstable of fraudulently taking more than $125,000 from the Cape chapter of the DAV and using it for personal expenses.
