All VFW posts are reminded that three units from the Cape are deployed to Afghanistan. District Commander has requested donations for packages to be sent. The units don't have the usual ability to procure items of need because of the "closing" of bases and PX's due to withdrawal. Brewster VFW Post has donated over $600 through a Poppy Drive. East Dennis Post 10274 and Cape Cod Veterans Inc. will hold a Poppy Drive on Sept.8th to add to the "Unmet Needs" of deployed families and Troops overseas. Commander Manfredi (VFW District 17, PO Box 387 Cataumet, MA 02534), is putting the packages together Oct. for Christmas.

"The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional to how they perceive the Veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their nation."   George Washington
