A fire that raced through storage and office trailers Friday at Joint Base Cape Cod has jeopardized a foundation’s annual toy drive and Christmas party for military personnel.

Don Cox, the president of the Cape Cod Military Support Foundation, said the organization has been hosting a party for 800 kids on the base for the past five years. The group gives thousands of presents, including gifts for the kids themselves, their parents, and their siblings.

“We lost everything in this fire,” he said. The blaze spread through nine trailers. The foundation had half the space.

Cox said they had about 5,000 stocking stuffers, 1,200 “regular gifts,” and more “premium gifts” in the trailers. In all, it was about 75 percent of what the foundation needed for the event.
