Contacted wonderful elderly widow of veteran 87 from Yarmouth Port who needs help. Shawney the MA. Veterans Service Officer gave me her phone # (she is under Chapter 115 State MA assistance). She was flooded out last month and needs rugs, inlaid flooring, a dresser, a bed, a mattress & box spring, and some small items. She has medical issues and can't travel. Janice and I will travel to Cape Abilities and choose some items. We will visit a bedding Co. and make a deal for the bedding. I will author a letter asking for consideration from all stores. It saddens us to find such desperate Americans who have no one else to turn to in time of need as our leaders spend $trillions on the world. This week we have approved a new heating and hot water system with gas line repair for a Korean War Veteran in Falmouth, who has had no hot water or heat since April. Last week we delivered checks to elderly Veterans in Wellfleet for health care costs and Yarmouth for vehicle insurance, repair, and tax costs. Rarely a week in the past 5 months that CCVI hasn't been asked to assist a needy Veteran or their families. CCVI would like to thank our supporters who provided the tens of thousands of dollars donated by Cape Cod Veterans Inc. to our needy Veterans and their families in the past few months.
