The National Korea Defense Service Memorial Act of 2015 , is a bill sponsored by Congressman William Keating ( D ) of the 9th U.S.District of Massachusetts and initiated by former Korean War Veterans Association National Director ( 2005-2011 ) Jeffrey J. Brodeur , Hyannis Ma, who served in Korea with the U.S. Army 2nd Infantry Division in the 1980's. Brodeur was unanimously elected by the Korean War Veterans Association Board of  National Officers to form a committee to erect the Korea Defense Service Memorial in the Washington DC area. The two Deputy Chairmen of the KDS Memorial Board are KWVA National Director Albert McCarthy of Worcester, Ma who served in the 314th Air Division USAF in Korea in the 1970's and John " Sonny" Edwards of  Smithfield ,Virginia who served in Korea in the 1950's with the U.S.Army 1st Cavalry Division and 24th Infantry Division. No taxpayer funds will be used to erect the memorial.  Organizations supporting the National Korea Defense Service Memorial Act of 2015 are the Korean War Veterans Association, U.S. Army 2nd Infantry Division Association , United States Federation of Korea Veterans Organizations, Korean War Legacy Foundation, Cape Cod Veterans Inc., VFW Post 10274 Dennis Ma, American Legion Post # 405 Raynham Ma, Italian American War Veterans Post # 6 East Boston Ma, Combined Korea-US Veterans Association, Louisiana Veterans Coalition. Korea Veterans of America Inc. Boston Wounded Veteran Run.
