Senate Bill 2258, "Veterans' Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2014"

Sponsor: Sen Mark Begich, (Alaska) introduced the bill on 4/28/2014  with 17 Cosponsors

The Bill was passed and became Public Law No: 113-181 on 26 September 2014.

It directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs (VA) to increase, as of December 1, 2014, the rates of (1) veterans' disability compensation, (2) additional compensation for dependents, (3) the clothing allowance for certain disabled veterans, and (4) dependency and indemnity compensation for surviving spouses and children.

It requires each such increase to be the same percentage as the increase in benefits provided under title II (Old Age, Survivors and Disability Insurance) of the Social Security Act, on the same effective date.

That means that all Vet's getting VA Disability Compensation will get an automatic 1.7 percent increase at the end of this year when Social Security pay-outs are increased.
